As reported by Public Relations Department of Ghadir Energy Investment Company, the steam unit of Behbahan Combined Cycle Power Plant was put into operation in Khuzestan Province on November 13, 2018 in the presence of the esteemed Minister of Energy and the state and provincial authorities. Mr. Ebrahim Khoshgoftar, Managing Dircetor of Ghadir Energy Investment Company, stated in the opening ceremony: By operation of the steam unit, the power generation capacity of this power plant has increased from 332 MW to 492 MW and this will have an important role in sustainability of power, especially at peak consumption times. Construction and installation of the equipment of the steam unit of this power plant lasted for 18 months and costed equal to 140 million Euros. Mr. Ebrahim Khoshgoftar added that upon opening of the steam unit, one million m3 of gas per day is saved leading to incresae of the efficiency of Behbahan Power Plant by 15%.
The finance for construction of this power plant was funded by National Development Fund for 85 percent and MAPNA Company was the construction executor of this power plant. 65 percent of the shares of this power plant belong to Ghadir Energy Investment Company and 25 percent is related to MAPNA Company. At the end of the opening ceremony, the Minister of Energy appreciated the shareholders and executors of the power plant and acclaimed the worthwhile interaction of the executive departments of Khuzestan Province with the water and power industry.
